Books and Wings founded a library in Tiquisate, Dept. of Escuintla, on April 6, 2001. Housed in the principal's office of an

elementary school, for the first eight months, it served more as a book museum than as a library, as there was no librarian and

very few users. In January, 2002, Clariza Contreras came on board as librarian, and, thanks to her hard work, within 3 months

there were 1,000 users a month!

Twelve years later, Clariza still works her magic, and the library averages over 2,000 users a month.
